On the afternoon of September 12, the "2022 China-Uzbekistan Leather and Shoemaking Industry Cooperation Conference And the Invitation Ceremony of the Guest Country of China (Wenzhou) Int’l Leather, Shoe Material & Shoe Machinery Fair" was successfully held at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in China. More than 50 attendees, including leaders from the relevant government departments in Beijing, Wenzhou, and Uzbekistan, representatives of the related international institutions, organizations, industry associations, enterprises, and media partners attended the meeting. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Uzbekistan, they met in Beijing to focus on the leather and shoemaking industry. The theme of the event is to jointly promote the economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between China and Uzbekistan, and introduce the characteristics of Wenzhou and Wenzhou’s leather and shoemaking industry to Uzbekistan and the international community.

The event was sponsored by CCPIT Wenzhou, and the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in China, and organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in China, Donnor Exhibition Group, and Economic & Commercial Counselors Alliance in China (ECCAC). Representatives from the China Machinery Industry Federation (CMIF), China Leather Industry Association (CLIA), China Plastics Processing Industry Association (CPPIA), China National Coatings Industry Association, China Association of Warehousing and Distribution (CAWD), China Petroleum Circulation Association (CPCA), China Construction Metal Structure Association (CCMSA), China Construction Metal Structure Association Water Supply and Drainage Equipment Branch, China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, China Electrical Equipment Industry Association (CEEIA), and Wenzhou Pump & Valve Industry Association attended this event. After the event started, Akmalkhon Olimkhonov, Trade Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in China, delivered a speech on behalf of the embassy. He said that Uzbekistan intends to further expand cooperation with China in the leather, footwear, and fur industries, and he hoped that this event will provide new opportunities for Uzbekistan and China to establish a closer partnership.

Su Lisheng, President of CCPIT Wenzhou, mentioned in his speech that more than 4,900 shoemaking enterprises and over 800 footwear export enterprises are located in Wenzhou. Wenzhou’s footwear products are exported to more than 150 countries worldwide, with the output value of the industry exceeding 100 billion yuan, which made the shoemaking industry become the second largest industrial cluster of 100 billion yuan in Wenzhou after the electrical industry. Under the new development pattern, Wenzhou is deeply integrated with the world, expanding overseas markets through multi-channels and various ways, and striving to leap from "China’s Shoe Capital" to "World’s Shoe Capital". So the economic and trade cooperation and exchanges between Wenzhou and Uzbekistan will become closer. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Uzbekistan and is the best period in the history of China-Uzbekistan relations. "Uzbekistan is located in the hinterland of Central Asia and is the key hub of the ancient Silk Road, we hope that Wenzhou and Uzbekistan will have more industrial cooperation and economic and trade exchanges in the future, and create more opportunities for the Silk Road Economic Belt. ", said Mr. Su.

Later, Jamshid Sulaymonov, Representative of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Uzbekistan in China, introduced the investment environment and related policies of Uzbekistan's petroleum, chemical, pump and valve, leather, and shoe-making industries.
